There are a number of steps involved in any criminal defense, but every case begins with a preliminary hearing. This is the most important step, because it is the first time police will testify in court. I will make sure you are prepared, because cases can be won and lost here.

You have to be especially careful in some cases, such as drug and theft crimes, when there is a witness who is not a police officer. You may want to postpone the hearing in order to have a photo array shown to the person, so they do not just stand at the hearing and assume the accused is the same person they saw at the incident. Small details like this can end up having a big impact on your case.
