Whether you have been arrested and jailed immediately or you were put in jail after failing to show up at a hearing or trial, you want to find a way to be released. If the magistrate has set an excessive bail, you can ask for a bail hearing to have it changed. Every case is different, and in the event that I may not be able to get you out of jail completely, I am often able to have my clients placed in alternative arrangements.
At your bail hearing, it is important that the court consider two factors:
- Will the person show up for trial?
- How dangerous is this person to society?
The courts are obliged to consider both factors, but unless they have good reason to believe you are a threat to give them trouble, getting you out of jail may be possible. I will assess your case quickly and see whether or not there is anything that I can do for you.
Existing Warrants For Arrest
If you believe that there is an outstanding warrant for your arrest because you missed a hearing, I can get this cleared up for you with minimal inconvenience. I know the process to have you turned in with a hearing on the same day which results in the reinstatement of your original bail.
